Family Biking in Africa - 12/13/11 11:09 AM

Me and my two children who are aged twelve and ten would really like to go on a bikimg holiday in Africa to experience a bit of culture and wildlife but we want to go somewhere that is family friendly and also preferably malaria free. Any recommendations gratefully received.

Hi,

I was positively surprised by Swaziland. In the Milwane you can cycle with plenty of wildlife.
But it's not Malaria free but rare. South Africa is partly malaria free but wildlife is nearly not possible to see from a bicycle. I only know the Buntebock NP, a NP near Graaf Reinert which can be cycled.
Wildlife, malaria free and cycling does not fit good together...

I think you should not be too concerned about Malaria. It still is a nasty disease of course but catching it this quick will probably not happen. Other than that I think it is a great idea of you to go biking with your kids in the wilderness. It will be an unforgetable journey for them. Good luck for you!
